November 2023 – October 2025 Oro Provincial Hospital, Papua New Guinea
A Project Completed with Lasting Impact
After nearly two years of dedication, coordination, and persistence, the Hospital Beds Project led by Olgeta Foundation has been successfully completed.
Hospital beds and essential medical equipment have now been delivered and are in use at Oro Provincial Hospital — improving patient care, supporting healthcare workers, and strengthening the local healthcare system.
The Journey
What began in November 2023 as a simple but urgent need — access to basic hospital infrastructure — evolved into a complex international effort.
The project required:
Sourcing hospital beds and medical equipment in Australia
Coordinating logistics across borders
Managing shipping, storage, and transport within Papua New Guinea
Overcoming delays and infrastructure challenges
Over 24 months, this initiative became a true example of persistence and collaboration.
Why It Matters
In many remote regions of Papua New Guinea, hospitals operate under significant limitations. Access to hospital beds is often insufficient, impacting both patient care and recovery.
By delivering this essential equipment, the project has:
Improved conditions for patients
Increased hospital capacity
Enabled healthcare workers to provide safer, more effective care
This is not just equipment — it is dignity, safety, and opportunity for better health outcomes.
Official Recognition
The impact of this project has been formally recognised by the Oro Provincial Government as a significant and life-changing contribution to the region’s healthcare system.
As highlighted in the official acknowledgment, this initiative represents more than a delivery — it reflects strengthened healthcare services, renewed hope for patients, and the power of international collaboration.
A Collective Effort
This milestone would not have been possible without the support of our partners. We extend our heartfelt thanks to:
Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital — for donating hospital beds and mattresses
Someone Who Cares Foundation — for coordinating shipment with Swire Group and contributing medical equipment, school supplies, and wheelchairs
Theodist Ltd — for logistical support, including storage and transport in Port Moresby
Curtain Bros — for secure storage of hospital beds in Motukea
Hi-Lift Logistics — for assisting with import clearance
Captains of several superyachts — for supporting delivery and distribution to remote areas
Our dedicated volunteers — whose contribution was essential at every stage
We also extend our sincere gratitude to Hon. Gary Juffa, Governor of Oro Province, for his leadership, support, and official recognition of this initiative.
Looking Forward
The completion of the Hospital Beds Project marks an important milestone for Olgeta Foundation.
It demonstrates our commitment to delivering practical, hands-on support to remote and underserved communities — and reinforces our belief that meaningful impact is built through long-term dedication and strong partnerships.
We continue to work towards expanding access to healthcare, education, and environmental initiatives across the Pacific.
